What is Magnetic Resonance Imaging ?

Introduction

Magnetic Resonance Imaging is considered the most modern advanced technique in Diagnostic Imaging Field in all over the world.

1/ The Toshiba Access LPT6.0, USA, MR Imager has been operated in MEDIC since June 1996 (The 1st machine in Vietnam).
2/ Technice parameters: permanent magnet 640 Gauss, the newest generation (LTP 6.0)
3/ Whole body scanning with superiority in diagnosing nervous diseases.
4/ MR fluoroscopy: in biopsy exereac and cauterise exactly with heat or alcohol.
5/ MR kinetics: show and estimate the operation of the joint.
6/ MRI : estimate blood vessel diseases in the brain and in the whole body non-invalies.

Indication:

Nervous diseases: epilepsy, dyomyclinization encephalobathy, tumour, inflammation, degeneration, etc. of the cerebrum and spinal cord.
Blood vessel : deformity , atherosclerosis , blood vessel atrophy in the cerebrum and in the whole body.
Musculoskedetae: inflammating diseases, degeneration of jout, ligament, tensow and muscle.
Eye, ear, nose, throat : orbit, eyeball and throat tumour, inflammation, abscess, etc.
Heart, pulse : heart muscle disease, cervical artery, aorta, peripheral artery.
Internal organ : liver, kidney, pancreas, spleen, etc. diseases.
Tumour : find out, estimate the rate of invading, watch and then treat.

The Development of MRI Technique

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is considered to be the newest and the most powerful technique in diagnostic medical imaging.

The open MR imager provides the acceptable image quality, especially comfortable for patients who are claustrophobic.

The Toshiba Access LPT6.0 open MR Imager, made in USA, has been installed in MEDIC Medical Center since June 1996. It is the first MR Imager installed in VN.
Using the newest generation permanent magnet 640 Gauss.
Scanning the whole body, especially helpful in Neurology and in Orthopedic and Sport medicine.
MR Fluoroscopy: in intervention procedures
MR Kinetic: Study the disease in active moving status of the organ.
MRA: non-invasively estimate the blood vessel status.

MRI OVERVIEW

In the last ten years, medical imaging techniques have reached admirable progresses, much more advanced than the progresses during 100 years before.

MRI widely accepted in medical imaging since 1996, it is absolutely safe and represents the revolution in image acquisition.

MRI can show clearly the fine structure especially in soft tissue where other modalities proved not so helpful, it can also be used in function study of the central nervous system, of cardiovascular system, bile duct diseases…

MRI possessed many priorities in medical imaging since it acquired the inherent hydrogen proton signal, so it can differentiate between normal, inflammatory with tumor structures.

MRI is safe since the RF energy used is too week to break molecular chemical bonds. It liberates the physician and the patient from radiation, so you can perform the study many times and the physician can operate beside the MR Imager.

MR IMAGER FOR YEAR 2000

In the end of the year 2000, Medic medical center will install GE 1.5 Tesla MR Imager. It will be the most powerful high field MR Imager in VN. We hope that we always serve the patient our bests.
