Ultrasonography

** Ultrasound department has 12 general and 3 color ultrasound machines:

Color Doppler :
- TOSHIBA SSH 140 HG
- 2 TOSHIBA Eccocee
- Kontron 440 CE, CD English
- 2 Sonosite portable
- 1 Combison

Black and white ultrasound machines:
- MEDISON : Sonorex / Sonoace 600, Sonoace 3200
- 3 Aloka : SSD 500, SSD1100, SSD1000
- TOSHIBA : Capasee
- 3 Kontron sigma 1AC

** Thanks to special scanning heads to do some following techniques:
- General ultrasound (color or Doppler)
- Obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound with TV scanning head
- Cardiac ultrasound (color) with TEE scanning head
- Rectum ultrasound - TRUS
- Soft tissue ultrasound : thyroid, mammary gland, eyes
- Blood vessel ultrasound - Doppler - TCD
- Muscle articulation ultrasound

** Technique:
- General ultrasound: this should be done in the morning and the patient must go without food.
- Obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound: drink a lot of water and abstain from urinating
- Blood vessel ultrasound: don't prepare anything from 3 p.m. to 17 p.m. every weekday
- Rectum ultrasound (TRUS): on weekdays
- Emergency ultrasound at home: please contact: Tel: 8357284 or  Fax: 8331237)
- Diagnosis ultrasound: from 12:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Periodic examining ultrasound at MEDIC 
- Ultrasound at other places 

* Preparation before doing an ultrasound
- To stomach, liver, gall ultrasound; it is necessary to abstain from food at least 8 hours before doing an ultrasound.
- To urological and Obstetric and gynaecological ultrasounds, the patients must abstain from urinating.  
- To other ultrasounds, the patients needn't prepare anything.

** Ultrasound technique can help you
- Investigating blood vessel system of head, neck, stomach....(Especially with Doppler ultrasound of the color of the blood vessels.)
- Examining cataract, haemorrhage, retinal status (Eyes ultrasound)
- Diagnosing bronchocele (Thyroid ultrasound)
- Examining heart valvule, heart muscle, and some innate heart diseases (Cardiac ultrasound)
- Diagnosing mammary gland : investigating tumour, follicle, breast abscess, etc. (Breast ultrasound)
- Diagnosing liver, gall pathological signs : cirrhosis, bile-stone, bilie duct deformity, etc.
- Diagnosing pathological signs of prostate gland
